Everything that I once thought was beautiful
Is now dimmed with the haunting memories of you
Wondering if those steps we took, you took with someone else
Wondering if those games we played, you played with someone else
Everything that I once smiled at, I now tear up at.
I won’t let me tear drops fall.
That would mean it’s over.
And part of me can’t allow myself to believe that.
I just drove past that park near my house, where we played disc golf for the first time.
Remember that? When you threw it so far and it got lost in the uncut grass in the neverending field?
It took us forever to find.
But not a moment was wasted, because I got to spend it with you.
We walked and talked and swung on the swings.
You climbed a tree and I was so amazed, I took so many photos that day.
Now, when I pass that park, I tear up.
I wonder if you took her there.
I can’t think of all the happy memories anymore.
All I have is sadness and worry.
And this never ending hopeless wish that someday, we will go back there again.
And that is the day that I will smile again.
