Change – Poetry by Simma Hem

Change

Change

Is never just one thing

Not when what changes

Is intrinsically attached

To so many other things

People, to places, to emotions

Ideas and concepts

You knock one brick out

And the rest fall

It’s never just one thing

Change

It could be one note

Part of a melody

But what does that do

To the harmony

What also changes

In the structure

And in the chord

So follows the emotion

It’s never just one thing

Change

Just one decision

A whole new place

A different person

A new idea

To new memories

To a new you

To a great many things

Both good and bad

It’s never just one thing

Change

From love to apathy

From contentment to distress

From security to hopelessness

From me or you

It’s a great responsibility

To change a person’s understanding

Of what the human experience is

To change them forever

It’s never just one thing

Change

But express care

Because change

Could also mean freedom

From all expectation

And you deserve that

And so should all others

And so you can be

A catalyst for self love

And that too, is never just one thing

I would tell you where I live, but I live in different places every few months. I enjoy traveling and seeing new things. I have been a professional photographer for many years now and do all styles of photography. I enjoy modeling from time to time as well. I make candles, Chapstick, tea, spell jars, sage bundles...I collect crystals and I like painting. I sell the crafts I create, to make room for more.
